Whether you’re organising a busy construction site or planning a local festival, portable toilets are an essential part of the setup. But have you ever wondered how they actually get delivered – and more importantly – how they’re serviced during use?
At WC Portables, we’re often asked what’s involved in getting our toilets to your location and how the servicing works once they’re on site. So, here’s a quick guide to help you understand what to expect.
Delivering Your Portable Toilets – What You Need to Know
Before anything else, we need to gain access to your site. It might sound obvious, but you’d be surprised how often this is overlooked. Unlike a flat-pack kitchen unit, portable toilets don’t fold down, and no—we can’t parachute them in!
Size Considerations
Here’s what you should be aware of:
- Our standard portable toilet units and disabled access units come in fixed sizes.
- When planning delivery, think about entry points, gates, and pathways. We’ll need a clear route in and out.
- Our trucks vary in size depending on your order. For single-unit deliveries, we usually use something similar in size to a standard Transit van. Larger orders may arrive on trailers or larger trucks.
Once the units are offloaded, our trained drivers will position them exactly where you want – provided the area is accessible. One key thing to remember: once the units are filled with water and chemical, they become too heavy to move. So be sure of the placement before we fill them up!

Placement and Servicing Requirements
To deliver and service your units properly, our team needs to park within 10 metres of the toilet’s final position. This distance allows our drivers to safely extract waste and replenish chemicals using their onboard equipment.
If we can’t get close enough or the access is blocked, we may not be able to service the toilet as planned. So it’s worth checking ahead of time that the route is clear and the ground is stable enough for our vehicles.

Site Toilet Servicing – What’s Included
If you’re hiring a toilet for a construction site or long-term use, we include one free service per week. This covers:
- Waste removal
- Refill of chemicals and water
- Restocking of toilet paper and hand sanitiser (if applicable)
- General cleaning
If you require additional services (for example, a second clean during a busy week), we can arrange this for a small extra charge. Just let our sales team know when booking.
Keep in mind – we can only service your units if we have access. That means no locked gates, parked cars in the way, or blocked routes. It helps us keep everything running safely and smoothly.
Factors that determine how often construction portable toilets are to be cleaned.

Event Toilet Hire – Short-Term Use, Big Impact
For events like weddings, concerts, festivals, and community days, our delivery and service expectations are similar, but with a few tweaks.
Most events don’t run long enough to require a service during the hire period, but daily servicing can be arranged if needed. This is especially useful for multi-day events or where high footfall is expected.
Servicing for events is available at an agreed rate, which our team will confirm with you during booking. We’ll work around your event timings to ensure we’re in and out without disturbing the experience.
In Summary – A Quick Checklist for Smooth Delivery and Service
Before delivery day arrives, here’s what you can do to help:
- Make sure there’s enough access space for our vehicle
- Check the placement area is firm, flat and easy to reach
- Ensure our driver can get within 10 metres of the toilet
- Let us know if the unit will need to be moved later (it can’t be moved once filled)
- If you need extra cleaning or servicing, speak to our sales team in advance
